Moments of Japan respects your privacy, and your inbox. This policy explains how I collect, handle, and protect your information when you interact with this website, sign up for updates, or place an order.

I only collect what's necessary. Depending on how you interact with this site, that may include:

• Your email address, collected via a sign-up form powered by Mailchimp.
• Your name, delivery address, and email address, collected when you place an order through the store.
• Payment information processed securely via Stripe. I never see or store your card details — these are handled entirely by Stripe.

3. Why I Collect it

Your information is used for the following purposes only:

• To fulfil and dispatch your order, and to communicate with you about it.
• To send updates about Moments of Japan if you have opted into the mailing list.
• To share behind-the-scenes updates or news related to the book and future projects.
• Your data will not be shared or sold to any third parties, except where necessary to fulfil your order (for example, passing your delivery address to Royal Mail).

4. Legal Basis

• For mailing list subscribers: your consent is the legal basis for processing your email address. By subscribing, you agree to receive updates as described above.
• For orders: processing is necessary for the performance of a contract — specifically, to fulfil the order you have placed.

5. How Long Do I Keep Your Data

I'll keep your data only as long as necessary:

• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it.
• Order data: retained for up to 7 years in line with UK tax and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted.
• You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in any email, or contact me directly to be removed.

6. How Your Data Is Stored

• Mailing list email addresses are stored securely via Mailchimp, who follow GDPR-compliant practices. You can view Mailchimp's privacy policy here.
• Order data is stored securely via WooCommerce on this website's hosting environment.
• Payment data is stored and managed by Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS standards. You can view Stripe's privacy policy here.

7. Your Rights (under GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the data I hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Delete your data (unsubscribe or email me directly).
• Restrict or object to processing.
