Moments of Japan is a hardcover photobook presenting a collection of unposed street photography from Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and beyond.

Spanning 160 pages in A4 portrait format, it features 86 photographs arranged into six thematic chapters, each introduced with titles in both Japanese and English.

From lantern-lit streets and fleeting motion to solitary figures and silence, the book reveals a reflective glimpse into Japan’s nightscape.

ABOUT ME

I’m Chris, a UK-based designer and photographer.

I’ve visited Japan three times now, and each trip deepened my fascination with its atmosphere after dark. There's something about the balance of stillness, movement, and light that continues to draw me back.

After three trips and walking the equivalent of Tokyo to Osaka, I've composed these 160 pages to capture a Japan found between the neon and the noise.

Moments of Japan brings these experiences together in a carefully curated book that reflects my love of photography, print, and the beauty of Japan's streets at night.
